Ways To Support Jacksonville Shelters During Pet Month

April 30th is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, and May is National Pet Month! From adoption events to new wine fundraisers, there are tons of ways to give back and help create better lives for shelter animals here in Jacksonville. We asked our friends at the Jacksonville Humane Society what are the best ways to give back this month!

Free Adoptions thanks to VyStar April 27th - 29th

The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) and Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) are both at capacity for available kennels, particularly for large dogs, and are asking the community for help.

JHS works in partnership with ACPS throughout the year to provide relief for space and housing, to help ensure that every pet is provided with a lifesaving outcome. JHS transfers in animals from ACPS every week and also assists with stray animals. So far in 2022, JHS has transferred 128 animals into their custody from ACPS and taken in 1,071 stray animals.

Adoptions at the Jacksonville Humane Society will be waived beginning Wednesday, April 27th, 2022 through Friday, April 29th, 2022, thanks to VyStar Credit Union. Animal Care & Protective Services will also be waiving their adoption fees during this time.

Pet adoptions will be available at the Jacksonville Humane Society off of Beach Boulevard as well as Animal Care & Protective Services off Forest Street.

All pets will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption. Adoption fees are waived, additional fees may apply. For more information, please visit the jaxhumane.org.

NEW Corks & Collars Fundraiser at Sawgrass Marriott on May 6th

Get ready to celebrate human kind’s best friends—Jacksonville Humane Society will be hosting their inaugural Corks & Collars event at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa on May 6, 2022 from 5:30pm – 8:30pm.

Corks & Collars is a unique event with exciting entertainment, a live and silent auction and a Pawtastic Getaway opportunity that comes together for a few fabulous hours of fundraising, camaraderie, and support! In addition to being able to participate in our auctions and raffles, guests will enjoy sipping on fabulous wine, tasting savory hors d’oeuvres, and will experience a “Paws on the Catwalk” fashion show!

Tickets are $150 with proceeds benefiting Jacksonville Humane Society, which provides care, comfort and compassion to animals in need while engaging the hearts, hands and minds of our community to bring about an end to the killing of abandoned and orphaned shelter animals.
