This week brings the Clay County Fair, Jax River Jams, and the start of the Jumbo Shrimp baseball season! There are plenty more. Art lovers will want to check out the art walk which is filled with plenty of local artists and live music. Read ahead for exciting events happening this week and beyond! 

CLAY COUNTY FAIR

 First Wednesday Art Walk

Downtown Vision has proudly hosted the First Wednesday Art Walk since 2003 to welcome people to DTJax and celebrate the community’s deep pool of creative talent.  

Art Walk has returned after a break due to the pandemic and now takes place monthly! We invite you to bring your family, friends and coworkers for a self-guided tour of Downtown’s northbank core on the first Wednesday of every month. Explore three major hubs: James Weldon Johnson Park, The Jessie (duPont Center) and Vagabond Flea at The Breezeway at Vystar Tower, and all the businesses and public art between. Art Walk runs 5-9 p.m., rain or shine. Masks encouraged.

Jax River Jams

9th Annual DOGFEST Jacksonville - Supporting Canine Companions

 Whether you have a dog or simply love them, spend the day at DogFest and celebrate our canine friends and heroes that bring joy to our lives. When it comes to the blues today, there are a handful of guiding lights to make sure the music stays true to its powerful source. For Jimmie Vaughan, he’s dedicated his life to making sure the blues not only stays alive, but remains full of life and an inspiration to all who listen. It’s a spirit he holds close to him for over 50 years and Vaughan isn’t about to stop now.

Jimmie is the older brother of the late Texas Blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan. He’s best known for his hits “Six Strings Down”, “ Dengue Woman Blues”, “Don’t Cha Know” and more. Jimmie is also supporting Eric Clapton’s US Fall tour.

Book Signing at Veterans United Craft Brewery to Benefit The Fire Watch

Where: Veterans United Craft Brewery 

Local Author J.S Farmer will be at Veterans United Craft Brewery, signing copies of her book Blue Sky Gone, on Saturday, April 16th at 5:00pm. Proceeds from this event's book sales will go to The Fire Watch, Florida's fight to end veteran suicide. 

Books will be available for purchase at the event or can be purchased online ahead of time on Amazon, Walmart, or Barnes and Noble. 

Munchies Food Truck will be on-site around 6:00pm, and there will be a free comedy show at 8:00pm. Stop in to meet the author, have your book signed and have a great night out!

DUUUUUVAL!!! Get ready for the most poppin Draft Party in the 904! Join us and the Jags Nation on Thursday, April 28th at the River City Railway for an evening filled with football, fun and excitement for the 2022 season! 

The draft will be streamed on a giant video board followed by a concert, and a live DJ. There will be several food trucks, local restaurants, beverage stations, vendors and more!

For a limited time, General Admission tickets are just $5 and include access to the party + one complimentary beer! Jacksonville Silent Party

Where: 5538 Normandy BLVD

When you arrive you’ll receive a pair of wireless headphones. You can adjust the volume and choose between up to three DJ’s with a flip of a switch. Each headset has a color (BLUE, RED, GREEN) LED that shows what channel you are listening to, so you can dance along with those listening to the same DJ. It’s super social; just lower the volume or take the headphones off to talk to that girl or guy. There’s no loud music that you have to talk over. Plus, there’s no ringing in your ears when you leave!
