Concert season is starting up! Check out River City Jams for some free music, this week is Boyz II Men. Easter weekend is almost here and we have you covered with events for that. Sporting events such as UNF Baseball and Softball, Jumbo Shrimp Baseball, and Icemen Hockey are in season. The Icemen are just finishing up their season so if you're looking for a game, act now! We have markets for both sides of town whether you're in Jax or St. Aug! Keep reading to plan ahead with events happening this week, next week, and beyond!

Bon Iver (Justin Vernon) is a singer/songwriter from Wisconsin whose sparse, otherworldly indie folk has made him an award-winning critical and commercial success. Bon Iver’s debut album For Emma, Forever Ago, became one of the landmark albums of the late-2000s indie folk sound. Vernon’s sparse sound and pure vocals caught the attention of people looking for something folky, yet not folksy in any way. Further albums refining and shifting their sound bolstered Bon Iver’s popularity and widened the band’s fan base.

Demetri Martin

Demetri Martin is a standup comedian, writer, and director.

Demetri won the Perrier Award at the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh for his one-man show, If I. At the Melbourne International Comedy festival, his show Dr. Earnest Parrot Presents Demetri Martin won Australia’s Barry Award. Demetri has released three standup comedy albums and four hour-long standup comedy specials, including his latest for Netflix, The Overthinker.

The Great Easter-Bone Hunt 

Where: Poochie's Park

When: 4/16 10AM-2PM

Here’s how it works: You and your friends come to the party in the dog park. At about 10:40 am, you should begin to make your way down the festively decorated Nature Trail to the end where the entrance to The Field is. Promptly at 11 am we’ll open the gates to The Field and get everyone lined up side by side.
The Rules: Humans (and family/friends) must remain leashed to their dogs at all times. Humans cannot pick up an egg until the dog’s nose touches it! All ages are welcome. The hunt begins when the “Easter Dinosaur” comes alive.
Bring an Easter basket from home or we’ll give you a grocery bag. There will be 100 eggs filled with fresh Grammie’s homemade treats for your pup’s nose to find. And, 10 eggs with Valuable Poochies Prizes for the humans too! Dogs dressed up in easter clothes/gear will be entered into a raffle to win a gift basket.
After the hunt, head back to get a banana from the Banana Loco truck and the best-iced coffee you ever had from the Iced Coffee Ladies. There will be some good tunes playing as well.
Regular visitor entry fees and dog requirements apply, members participate for free. We hope all our Poochie Patrons can make it!

 

 

Ritz Carlton Easter Bunny Brunch

When: 4/16

Where: Ritz Carlton Amelia Island

Children will love this breakfast accompanied by the Easter Bunny and the Springtime Fairy! There will be a pancake station, eggs, bacon, pastries, and more! Parents will receive a photo to complete the memory. Tickets are expected to sell out, so plan accordingly!

Book Signing at Veterans United Craft Brewery to Benefit The Fire Watch

When: 4/16 5- 6:30

Where: Veterans United Craft Brewery 

Local Author J.S Farmer will be at Veterans United Craft Brewery, signing copies of her book Blue Sky Gone, on Saturday, April 16th at 5:00pm. Proceeds from this event's book sales will go to The Fire Watch, Florida's fight to end veteran suicide. 

Books will be available for purchase at the event or can be purchased online ahead of time on Amazon, Walmart, or Barnes and Noble. 

Munchies Food Truck will be on-site around 6:00pm, and there will be a free comedy show at 8:00pm. Stop in to meet the author, have your book signed and have a great night out!

The Stompdown Experience

Beartooth: The Below Tour Part 2

DUUUUUVAL!!! Get ready for the most poppin Draft Party in the 904! Join us and the Jags Nation on Thursday, April 28th at the River City Railway for an evening filled with football, fun and excitement for the 2022 season! 

The draft will be streamed on a giant video board followed by a concert, and a live DJ. There will be several food trucks, local restaurants, beverage stations, vendors and more!

TIMUCUAN SCIENCE & HISTORY SYMPOSIUM

When you arrive you’ll receive a pair of wireless headphones. You can adjust the volume and choose between up to three DJ’s with a flip of a switch. Each headset has a color (BLUE, RED, GREEN) LED that shows what channel you are listening to, so you can dance along with those listening to the same DJ. It’s super social; just lower the volume or take the headphones off to talk to that girl or guy. There’s no loud music that you have to talk over. Plus, there’s no ringing in your ears when you leave!

Alex O'Connor, also known as Rex Orange County, is a gifted singer/songwriter known for his literate, quirky brand of bedroom pop that combines jazz, hip-hop, and soul influences. O'Connor was still a teenager when he first gained attention online in 2015 for his self-produced album bcos u will never be free. He built upon his viral buzz with 2017's Apricot Princess, which found him further expanding his sound. The album cracked the Top Ten of Billboard's Independent Albums chart, and paved the way for his even more ambitious, jazz-inflected 2019 effort PONY.
