Historic Main Street Cruise Being Forced To Shut Down
The monthly Historic Springfield Main Street Cruise is being forced to shut down due to city red tape. The event has been happening for over 2 years now and John Wells, a representative from the event has spoken out to why it is being canceled:
"I've been asked to explain what has happened: The city has several stages that they rent out. The only problem is that it's a nightmare trying to get one for the average person. The biggest problem is that when you place the application and post the insurance they won't give you an answer if you are lacking anything. Last year when we rented the stage for the BIG ENGINE show, we were right up to the last day trying to find out if they were going to let us have the stage. Others who have rented these stages have told the same story. One told me they laid some new crap on her 3 hours before the stage was supposed to be delivered and she was jumping through her butt trying to satisfy them. There continue to be new requirements ALL the time. You can't put on a show like this. How can you plan anything if you don't know if you have a stage? This year I was not going to let this happen again. I started out well in advance and reserved one of the stages and filed the application and was to... [Read More]

The Summer Boating Season is now underway – Get out on the water today!
The kids are out of school and summer is official underway, are you ready to go boating? We are lucky to live here in Northeast Florida where we have plenty of waterways to choose from; the St. Johns River, Intracoastal Waterway, Atlantic Ocean, and a multitude of creeks and tributaries. So why not grab your family and get out on a boat this summer? It is the perfect way to connect with your kids and have a ton of fun!
I recommend the boating lifestyle to all families and not just because I am in the boating business. I grew up with parents who were competitive water skiers at Cypress Gardens and always being on a boat together strengthened our bond. Nowadays, the distractions are everywhere – smartphones, tablets, ipads, video game systems, you name it – but when you are on a boat you have the opportunity to unplug and focus on your time together.
Having fun is what summer is all about! You can swim, fish, water-ski, wakeboard, all things you can’t do if you aren’t on the water. There are also plenty of art, science or music projects you can conduct on the water. The important part is being together with no schedule, few distractions, and a focus on the family.

Prelude to Florida Country Superfest
The start of a music festival comes from the amount of artists that want to be part of it and the crowds that come and bring it to life. Florida Country Superfest is the first ever country festival to be held in downtown Jacksonville. How could something so awesome and so jam-packed with fans become such a success here in our city? I went to the start of the biggest festival of country music, none other than CMA Fest 2014 to find out.
The Country Music Association festival itself contains many big acts and many local acts. I’ve seen a lot of songwriters perform at CMA Fest, and we are going to be having some local acts from Jacksonville perform at Florida Country Superfest. This festival has at least 5 stages for the artists, and for Superfest, we are going to start off with 2 stages; a stage for the big acts and a stage for the local acts. One common factor that CMA Fest has and Superfest will have is the amount of people that are willing to stay for the concerts rain or shine. During night 2 of CMA Fest, lightning was spotted during the middle of the second acts’ performance. Unfortunately for Day 3, the area was under a tornado watch and delayed the concert at LP field for an hour. This was not the ... [Read More]
