The 2013 NFL season will conclude tonight with one of the biggest events in the entire world, Super Bowl XLV III. Finally, the two weeks of talk and fluff will end and will finally see if this game will live up to the hype. Out of the AFC, the Denver Broncos (13-3) and the #1 offense in the league will play against the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks (13-3) and their number #1 ranked defense. Six times we’ve seen two #1 teams match up like this in the title game and 5 out of 6 times, the team with the #1 defense wins the game. Will that be the case tonight?

Let’s look at the Broncos. The Broncos have weapons all over that offense, starting with the best quarterback I’ve ever seen in my life, Peyton Manning. Demaryious Thomas, Julius Thomas, Wes Welker, Knowshon Moreno, and Eric Decker are going to give the Seahawks secondary fits as it’s going to be a tough task to cover them all. Also, the Bronco’s defense has been playing very well during the playoffs with the play of defensive tackle (and former Jacksonville Jaguar) Terrance Knighton, who has been a nightmare stopping the run and creating interior pressure on pass rush plays.

Moving on to the Seahawks. We are all well aware of how good and how fast that Seattle secondary. Led by Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas, the “Legion of Boom” can create havoc on passing down. But one of the reasons for that is the play of Seattle’s front seven. Seattle can send a lot of pressure with just their front four linemen and if those guys can force Peyton to feel pressure, they can disrupt the entire Broncos’ offense. On the offensive side of the ball, Russell Wilson has to be able to make plays from the pocket, and having Percy Harvin available makes that easier for Wilson. Plus, Seattle has a “BEAST” of a running back in Marshawn Lynch, who caught a lot of flack for not really speaking during media day. I feel he’d rather let his performance today speak for him.

So who’s going to win? Conventional wisdom says to pick the Broncos and give Peyton a second ring right now. Not so fast, my friends. If Seattle can mimic the same scheme that Jacksonville (yes, Jacksonville) operated to disrupt and get to Manning and Wilson can throw two touchdowns today, Seattle wins their first Super Bowl in franchise history. MC Wale’s prediction: Seattle Seahawks – 28 Denver Broncos -24 Go ahead and rip this, but I stand by it. All in all, I hope for a great game. Because if it’s not, this is the last NFL game we see until AUGUST and nobody wants a bad game as the last lingering image of football until then.
