Summer Fun Heats up as the Cummer Museum brings back one of the First Coast’s Ultimate Community-Centered Arts and Culture Experiences

Summer at the Cummer offers free admission, live music, and more during extended summer Friday hours

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — July 5, 2023 — The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens announces the fifth season of the Summer at the Cummer, Fridays July 7 – September 8.

All are welcome to this free series, which activates the Cummer Museum campus on Fridays throughout the summer from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Each week brings live music by some of the city’s top musicians, unique hands-on art-making experiences, storytellers, lawn games, and more.

“Summer is especially vibrant at the Cummer Museum,” said Andrea Barnwell Brownlee, Ph.D., the Cummer Museum’s George W.  and Kathleen I Gibbs Director and CEO. “This annual tradition blends the best of everything the Cummer has to offer and magnifies our expanding role as a community hub.”

Picnic baskets can be pre-ordered from the museum website, making it easy to enjoy dinner and live music in the gardens while dining. Food and beverages can also be ordered from the Cummer Café, including beer, wine, and cocktails.

Performers including Akia Uwanda, Folk is People, and Caribe Groove headline this year’s series. Summer at the Cummer also allows guests to take advantage of full access to the Museum’s historically significant riverfront gardens, galleries, and exhibitions.

The Cummer’s permanent collection galleries and two special exhibitions can be viewed throughout the summer: American Made: Paintings and Sculpture from the DeMell Jacobsen Collection — a multi-gallery installation of more than 100 works spanning 200 years of American art and Outside: In – an exhibition bringing together works by global contemporary artists who draw their inspiration from the natural world.
