Grassroots campaign wraps up summer by celebrating all things local
Aug. 8, 2025 — JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Civic and community leaders are encouraging Northeast Florida residents to celebrate 904 Day on Thursday, September 4, 2025 (9/04).
The 904 area code covers nearly all of Northeast Florida, from the shores of Fernandina Beach to the historic sites of St. Augustine, and from the skyscrapers of Downtown Jacksonville to the ever-growing counties surrounding the Bold City. This year, local businesses and nonprofits are encouraged to celebrate the day by highlighting what makes them special to the region, while residents and visitors are encouraged to support local organizations they love.
The City of Jacksonville and Mayor Donna Deegan will issue a proclamation declaring Wednesday, September 4, 2025 as 904 Day, which will be presented at 904ward’s 904 Day Breakfast. Local nonprofits participating in 904 Day are preparing for a day of collective growth and community engagement. The Garden Club of Jacksonville will open its doors to the neighborhood with its inaugural Evening in the Garden event, fulfilling its role as a community hub and vibrant space for all to come together. From their flower and farmer vendors to refreshments and entertainment, everything is sourced from the 904.
"The Garden Club of Jacksonville is a place where good things grow. As the 904 area flourishes, we welcome all to join us in convening and cultivating such spaces citywide,” said Dr. Troy Mack, Chief Executive Officer of the Garden Club of Jacksonville. “With multiple community programs rolling out to serve residents throughout Jacksonville, 904 Day is a chance for us at ‘Jacksonville's Garden’ to open the doors to celebrate those artists, entrepreneurs and changemakers who are nurturing a kinder, healthier and more beautiful tomorrow."
Several events are happening throughout the region, including The Ritz Theatre and Museum’s Uptown Market for 904 Pride, special programming at the Orange Park Mall and free Yoga at the Fountain hosted by JaxParks at Friendship Fountain.
904 Day has been celebrated as a grassroots movement for several years, with Northeast Florida residents, organizations and companies alike showing their support by tagging posts with #904Day on September 4. In 2021, a collective effort to amplify the concept was launched by representatives from the City of Jacksonville, WJCT Public Media, Downtown Vision, Inc., the JAX Chamber, Visit Jacksonville, the First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Wingard.
