The Florida Gators Top TCU To Advance To The College World Series Finals

The Florida Gators pitcher Alex Faedo pitched 7 1/3 scoreless innings and struck out 11 as the Gators beat TCU, 3-0, Saturday night to advance to the College World Series Championship Series for the third time in program history.

Florida (50-19) will face rival LSU for the title after the two schools shared the Southeastern Conference regular-season title this season. Faedo and the Gators shut out TCU (50-18) for the second time this week by matching 3-0 scores. LSU (52-18) earned the championship game by stunning No. 1-ranked Oregon State for the second day in a row, 6-1.

The Gators face Southeastern Conference rival LSU on Monday night in Game 1 of the best-of-three championship series. The Gators won two of three against the Tigers during the regular season March 24-26 at McKethan Stadium. The Gators won the SEC East title, and LSU won the SEC West.

Game 1 is set for 7 p.m. Monday, Game 2 at 8 p.m. Tuesday and a third game at 8 p.m. Wednesday, if necessary.
